Australia’s Premier Pop Culture Research Network

PopCRN serves as a global center for scholars investigating the significant effects of popular culture. Our network, which includes collaborators from over 25 countries, employs an interdisciplinary approach to examine the various facets of pop culture. We explore its impact on identity, societal norms, and cultural evolution. Through pioneering research, we strive to enhance understanding and advance academic discussions on the complex relationship between popular culture and modern life. We invite you to join us in unraveling these complexities, promoting intellectual exchange, and contributing to the leading edge of pop culture studies.

We host around four online conferences annually, free and open to independent scholars, postgraduate students, early-career researchers, experienced academics, and researchers.

PopCRN is responsible for publishing the International Journal of Popular Culture Studies, a new, double-blind, peer-reviewed, free, online journal (coming soon).

Upcoming Conference: 29th-31st January 2025
